American soprano (1876-1956), known for both opera and vaudeville, whose real name was Edith Helen Seymour. Signed photograph, shown in the title role of Massenet's Thais. Printed signature of photographer White, New York. Size is 7 x 10 inches, small creases on left and right bottom edges and mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

French composer (1831-1870), and pianist, who was known for his numerous salon arrangements of contemporary opera arias. Set of three autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him. Letters are dated between 1863 and 1865 and are addressed to the music publisher Ricordi to discuss details for rights transfer and publication of piano music. French philosopher (1841-1929), poet, playwright, novelist, music critic, and publicist of esoteric literature. Autograph letter in French signed by him, dated in Paris, March 6, 1921, where he addresses a gentleman, concerning Bossuet's music connections. Size is 4.4 x 6.9 inches, 3 written pages, vertical fold, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is his visiting card with a short message written by Schure, dated March 29, 1922.

Dutch conductor (1825-1909) whose career developed mostly in France. Set of two autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him, as follows: A. Amsterdam, November 21, 1855. To a gentleman, concerning his opus 52 “Pensée de minuit”: “…Voir seulement que vous n’avez pas mis le moindre empressement à vous occuper un peu de ma “Pensée de Minuit” le morceau que vous m’avez gravé l’hiver dernier et qui obtint un si beau succès; bien que et en ayant jamais annoncé la publication dans votre Journal, ainsi que vous me l’aviez promis, on est allé jusqu’à refuser le morceau…”. 3 pp.  B. French composer (1828-1907), considered a person and composer of stature during her life, although less remembered subsequently. Set of three autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by her, not dated [1880 ca.], where De Grandval addresses the harpist Coraly Gatayes (1840-1913), daughter of Léon. The letters concern her composition “La Ronde de Songes” (1880) and other works such as Federico Morina Vanoni’s “Isabella de Lagatinerie”.  We report an extract as a sample: “…j’ai enfin la partie de harpe de la Ronde du Songes. Mademoiselle, voulez vous être assez bonnes pour me dire quand je puis avoir chance de vous rencontrer, afin d’avoir le grand plaisir de vous revoir (…) et de vous faire entendre mon oeuvre?…”.  Different sizes, lengths, and conditions (see scans provided). French opera composer (1863-1919), winner of the Prix de Rome (1888) for his cantata "Velléde"; his most famous opera "Le Juif Polonais" was produced at the Opéra-Comique in 1900. Set of three autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him, as follows: A. July 5, 1893. To the composer Carlos de Mesquita (1864-1953): “…nous verrions tous deux ce que je présenterai au Conservatoire cette année…”. On a postcard.  B. Paris, October 3, 1907. To the composer and pianist Michel-Maurice Lévy (1883-1965), concerning: “…votre beau projet de glorifier la mémoire de l’illustre musicien Edouard Grieg…”.  C. Paris, March 21, 1910. To an editor in chief, concerning a musical controversy: “…Mon excellent ami et collaborateur Pierre Louÿs [1870-1925, Belgian poet] a déjà fait justice – dans une lettre que vous avez bien voulu publier – du sans-gêne de M. M. [Hans, journalist] Liebstockl et [Max von] Oberleithner. À mon tour, je proteste énergiquement entre le procédé de quelques compositeurs d’outre-Rhin qui s’approprient, sans y être autorisés, tous les sujets d’opéras français qui leur conviennent. Autograph note in German (untranslated) signed by him, dated January 31, 1884, where he addresses the musicologist Max Friedlaender (1852-1934), concerning the poet Wilhelm Müller (1794-1827), whose poems were often set to music by Franz Schubert in his Lieder. Size is 5.4 x 8.3 inches, 1 written page, fold, creases, in overall very good condition.

French composer (1808-1877) and musicologist. Lot of four short autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him. Letters are dated between 1839 and 1859 and are addressed to music-related people such as Alfred de Beauchesne (1803-1876), secretary at the Conservatoire and the music critic Alexis Azevedo (1813-1875), concerning music performance programs, and a performance of Halevy’s La Juive in 1844.  Different sizes, lengths, and conditions (see scans provided). Spanish classical guitarist (1893-1987), considered one of the greatest guitar virtuosos of all times, and also well-known for his transcriptions of classical music works. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Paris, November 23, 1926, where he addresses Madeleine Greslé, reporting a misunderstanding with Andalusian composer Manuel De Falla concerning his festival: “Si le chemin le plus court pour en finir c’est d’apprendre à Nin que c’est moi qui a dit cela, je n’hésiterai pas un moment de le prendre, et j’ajouterais encore que ce n’est rien ce que j’ai dit de lui à côté de ce que j’en pense. Et quant à la lettre de Falla, je ferais comme une fois qu’un ami à moi duquel je devais attendre un service qu’il ne m’a pas rendu, m’avait écrit “As-tu reçu…”. “Oui - lui ai-je répondu - merci mille fois et je te rends ce dont il s’agit…”.   Size is 5.4 x 8.3 inches each page, 5 written pages in three separate sheets (front and back), Hotel Beaulieu letterhead, creases, folds, some dirt stains, in overall excellent condition.

French journalist and politician (1820-1892) and Prefect of national defense during the French-German war of 1870. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Paris, March 11, 1882, where he addresses a gentleman, thanking him for having sent him his “chanson patriotique”: “…deux poëtes et un musicien seront ainsi pour composer cette oeuvre remarquable. Je félicite la trinité de consacrer ses efforts à répondre dans le peuple des sentiments élevés. Il n’y a pas de plus beau rôle…”. Size is 7.6 x 9.2 inches, 1 page, folds, creases, dirt stains, in overall very good condition.

Album page signed by him with a short sentiment, attached to a small color half-tone photograph of him shown in his youth. Size is 5.9 x 4.75 inches, in very good condition. An unidentified signature is found on verso attached with a small half-tone photograph.

King of the United Kingdom (1841-1910) from 1901 until his death in 1910.Queen of the United Kingdom (1844-1925) from 1901 to 1910 as the wife of King-Emperor Edward VII. Beautiful black-and-white photograph signed by both royals, dated 1910. Size is 10 x 11.9 inches, some signs of mat burn over the borders, otherwise in excellent condition.

Famous Austrian-Hungarian conductor (1843-1916), tightly associated with Wagner´s music, Richter had an extensive career in England where he conducted the British premiere of the Ring. Fine cabinet photograph of the conductor by photographer H.H. Cameron signed and inscribed by Richter with a short sentiment dated in Berlin, April 5, 1900. Size is 7.75 x 9.8 inches, missing paper on both top corners, otherwise in very good condition.
